"I am Coming Quickly": Revelation 22:1-22:21

Revelation 22:1-5 “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.”
The living waters proceed from the throne of God and the Lamb. Notice, two individuals sitting on the throne, not One. The leaves of the tree of life heal all the nations and they will no longer curse God and the Lamb, but will serve Him instead. Those in the city will get to see the face of God for the first time. The kingdom of God is established and it will last for eternity.
Revelation 22:6-11 “Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place. “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.””
The angel strengthens all of us by stating that all these things are faithful and true. When John saw and heard all the things written in this book he falls down to worship the angel, the messenger. The angel then shocks John by revealing to him that he is of his brethren, the prophets of God. This is a blessing for John as it reveals to him his destiny, he will become a messenger for all nations on earth. In contrast to Daniel’s little book which was sealed, this book of the Revelation of Christ is to be read, kept and revealed to all. Whether you believe or do not believe, the angel prays that people will remain faithful to their descision. So those who are faithful will remain faithful and visa versa.
Revelation 22:12-17 ““And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”
Once again we are reminded that the Lord will be coming quickly and He will give to everyone according to what they have done during their lives, because He is the first and the last. Blessed are those who keep and do His commandments they get to eat and inherit eternal life. This is all the ten commandments not just eight or nine, but all the ten including the Saturday Sabbath. So if you don't rest on the Sabbath your breaking God's word and His promise to you. Outside the city are the unrighteous, but they are only present in spiritual form not the physical.
Revelation 22:18-21 “For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. I Am Coming Quickly He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”
There are many and varied theologies on the book of Revelation and here the angel declares that anyone who takes something away from the words in this book or adds anything to them he will be in danger under judgment. So we shouldn't read anything into the words of the book that aren't really there and we shouldn't take anything away from this book as all the words are important and are necessary for our salvation and understanding. Christ confirms again that that He is coming quickly highlighting the need for all nations to be prepared and to expect Christ to return soon, well within the next 300 years or so. Amen.
